Boston Celtics’ all-star point guard Isaiah Thomas personifies self-confidence.

The undersized scorer has found a way to make himself into the main offensive option for a playoff team over the last couple of years. Now he believes that the Celtics will be one of the elite teams of the NBA in the upcoming season.

Isaiah Thomas' point guard ranking

When asked about where he places himself in the point guard hierarchy, Thomas made it clear that he believes he belongs in the upper echelon.

“All I'm going to say is men lie, women lie, numbers don't.” Thomas told Celtics.com's Amanda Pflugrad. “My numbers stack up against all those other guys, those other top superstar guys, I guess you'd say. At the end of the day, I'm just going to continue to work and continue to show that I'm just as good as any other point guard in the NBA.”

As well as his increased leadership ability, Thomas has found a way to improve many facets of his game. Last year, Tommy Heinsohn’s favorite ‘little guy’ managed to average 22.2 points, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals while playing a part in every regular season game.

Where he can improve

Working on his defensive game would help put Thomas in the same bracket as someone like Chris Paul or John Wall. Despite this, there is no doubt that the Washington native, on his day, can rival any point guard in the league on offense.
