For the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday's wacky win over the Seattle Seahawks is arguably the biggest victory for the franchise in years. It not only sealed the team's first winning season since 2007, but it gave the Jaguars sole possession of first place in the AFC South at 9-4.

One player who has stepped up immensely for Jacksonville these first couple weeks of December is none other than quarterback Blake Bortles. More news surfaced on Wednesday afternoon regarding Bortles' status during Sunday's game that makes his performance all the more impressive.

According to a tweet from Brent Martineau of CBS47 and FOX30 in Jacksonville, Bortles played Sunday's game with the flu and apparently spent a lot of time later that night throwing up. Martineau estimated that Bortles lost up to 10 pounds.

Against the Seahawks, the fourth-year quarterback out of the University of Central Florida dazzled with 18-of-27 passes completed for 268 yards, two touchdown passes, and no turnovers.

Per Phillip Heilman of the Florida Times-Union:

“It’s obviously the best it’s ever felt since a lot of us have been here,” Bortles said. “There’s a couple of guys who have been around for a while, but I think for a majority of the locker room and the team and the guys who have been here for a year or two or three years, this is really the first taste of playing meaningful football in December.”

In Jacksonville's two December games, Bortles has thrown for 577 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. It is no secret that the Jaguars have done a great job of building an elite defense, but in order for them to make a deep run in the playoffs, Bortles must continue to shine with the ball in his hands.
