The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to move forward with Cody Kessler as their starting quarterback after Thursday's 30-9 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Kessler, who took over as the team's starter after Blake Bortles was benched following the Week 12 loss in Buffalo, threw for 240 yards and a touchdown against the Titans.

And with a recent report from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport suggesting that Bortles won't return to the team next season, it seems like the Jaguars are planning on sticking with Kessler for the rest of the regular season, via ESPN's Michael DiRocco.

Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said on a teleconference with reporters he is not considering re-inserting QB Blake Bortles into the starting lineup. Job still belongs to Cody Kessler. Jaguars have scored one TD in Kessler's two starts.

While Kessler's numbers have been nothing special, he hasn't exactly been all that bad. Jacksonville managed to pick up a 6-0 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13, and there was nothing Kessler could do about Derrick Henry's four-touchdown performance on Thursday.

But it's clear that the franchise has to make a significant upgrade at the quarterback position this offseason, because otherwise, they may find themselves at the back of the pack once again in the AFC South.

The Jaguars will return to action in Week 15 when they host the Washington Redskins, who are having their own quarterback issues these days with Mark Sanchez now inserted under center following season-ending injuries to both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy.
