The Jacksonville Jaguars reached a level below rock bottom this past season with Urban Meyer. They're now picking up the pieces from their miserable season and looking to build a respectable team with new head coach Doug Pederson.

Roster moves are underway in Duval County to get the team back on track. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are releasing veteran running back Carlos Hyde. He rushed for 253 yards in 12 games last season, his second stint with Jacksonville.

The move is great news for Travis Etienne, who the Jaguars picked 25th overall in the 2021 draft. He suffered a season-ending foot injury before the season even began. Now that Hyde is gone, he has a clear role alongside James Robinson in the backfield. behind his college teammate, Trevor Lawrence. Etienne is making progress with his injury and should be ready once the season starts.

Jacksonville has plenty of notable free agents to re-sign such as wide receiver DJ Chark and guard Andrew Norwell. With tackle Cam Robinson franchise tagged, the Jags need to keep building a respectable offense for Lawrence. After scoring the fewest points per game last season, they have to allow their young quarterback to thrive.

Lawrence and Etienne brought Clemson to the promised lands. Although there is a lot more work to do in Jacksonville to make the team that good, they will hope to do the same together.
