One of the most infamous incidents in NBA history was the “Malice at the Palace” back in 2004 where the players from the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons got into a brutal fight, where many fans also got involved. Although the main participants in it were Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal, and Ben Wallace, none of them was the instigator that led to the ugly mess.

Jackson, who recently appeared in The Rich Eisen Show, revealed that his former teammate, Jamaal Tinsley, provoked Artest into fouling Wallace hard. He recalled hearing them talk about it in an earlier play, and with Artest apparently not in the right state of mind that time, it was easy to condition him into doing something regrettable.

Jackson then shared that Wallace also wasn't in the best of mental states, as he lost his mother just days ago, which may have caused him to react violently.

As it turned out, all four players were suspended, but Tinsley got off without punishment. Artest was handed out the longest suspension for an on-court incident in NBA history which totaled 86 games and was also fined almost $5 million.

The revelation may be more than 13 years late, but it still sheds a lot of light on what really led to the altercation that many remember up to this day.
