Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has set the Utah Jazz ablaze over the last three games. In Games 2 and 3, Murray scored a mere 14 and 12 points respectively, but since Murray has dropped 50 points in Game 4, 42 points in Game 5, and 50 points again in Game 6.

This scoring onslaught has caused a lot of speculation about Murray’s ceiling and how good the 23-year-old guard can become.

On the Locked On Nuggets Podcast, hosts Matt Moore and Adam Mares were in awe of Murray’s scoring performance and his ability to capture a moment in his post-game comment, which led Mares to wonder if Murray could take Nikola Jokic’s spot as the best player on the Nuggets

Matt Moore: To see this kid going from what he was, by the way, Jamal Murray holds the record for most points in a game wearing a Denver Nuggets uniform, No. 1 of all time. Tying the former No. 1, which was himself in the other game when he dropped 50. It’s incredible to see him on this stage…

Adam Mares: Let me ask you this one, because of course I think Jokic is still the best player on this team, but I think no question that Jamal Murray is the best player in this series for Denver. But let me ask you this crazy one… I think Jamal Murray has reached highs that are as high as what we’ve seen from Jokic. What he’s done in this series, two 50-point games and absolutely clutch and unguardable. On top of that the defense, the passing, the running the floor, these highs… these are some peaks!

Matt: Jamal responded from being so bad in that first playoff series… so bad in that first playoff series. And he had that good quarter against the Spurs and I thought he was really good once he settled down in that Blazers series too. He responded to that though this year with this. Jamal Murray is what I would call a 16-Game player now.

Adam: I mean, you can’t question that at this moment.

Matt: That’s who he is and I never thought he would get here… And it’s been incredible and he’s just torched everybody… I think he deserves every ounce of credit and respect for it… and I don’t know how else to put it other than ‘he made the leap’ because I’ll say this. I don’t see guys in the playoffs in an elimination game score 50 points again and then go back to just …ehh.

Jamal Murray has been electric in this series against the Jazz ,but Game 7 will tell us if this has all been worth it.
