On the heels of a National Championship victory, Kansas Jayhawks star Christian Braun made a key reveal regarding his basketball future on Sunday. Braun took to Twitter to reveal his intentions to declare for the 2022 NBA Draft, though he will be maintaining his eligibility at Kansas, meaning he hasn't fully ruled out a return to Lawrence for another season. Braun left a heartfelt message for Jayhawks fans thanking them for their support over the past three seasons.

Braun is currently touted as a late first-round pick or an early second-round selection. He's coming off an excellent season with the Jayhawks during which he recorded 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and shot 49.5% from the field, including 38.6% from 3-point range. His ability to play multiple positions and defend on the perimeter and in the the paint could make him an interesting draft prospect for NBA teams.

Speaking with ESPN's Jonathan Givony on Sunday, Braun explained his decision to declare for the draft, while also keeping his eligibility at Kansas open.

“It is hard to follow a season where you win every championship that's in front of you, but I'm excited to explore the options in front of me and enjoy this process,” Braun said via ESPN. “I've worked my whole life to show the NBA who I am and what I'm about, so I will continue to put my head down and work to achieve my dream of playing in the NBA.”

Braun and the Jayhawks enjoyed a tremendous season in 2021-22. They won the Big 12 regular-season and followed it up with a conference tournament victory. They then ran the gauntlet in the NCAA Tournament, winning a championship after overcoming a 15-point deficit against the North Carolina Tar Heels, a comeback in which Braun played a critical role.
