The Kansas Jayhawks are looking to cap off a sensational 33-6 season with a national championship on Monday night in their showdown vs UNC. Led by head coach Bill Self, senior guard Ochai Agbaji and junior guard Christian Braun, the Jayhawks are looking to bring home their first title since 2008. However, a national championship win won't just be a return to the winner's circle for Self. The longtime Jayhawks head coach revealed his added motivation heading into the UNC vs Kansas showdown on Monday night, as reported by Len Jennings of KMCB News.

“Everybody goes through stuff, and certainly my stuff isn't bigger than anybody else's,” Self said in a press conference over the weekend, “But it's been a situation for myself and for my family that I've taken more pride in this than I have ever before. Maybe at times, I would have taken this for granted because I know how much he would be enjoying this right now.”

Clearly, Self has a lot weighing on his mind ahead of the national championship game. Self lost his father back in January, noting that he knows how much the Jayhawks' run would mean to him.

When Kansas takes the floor against UNC on Monday night, Self and his players will be playing for so much more than just a national championship.
