The Utah Jazz fell in Game 4 of their second round series against the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. Donovan Mitchell led the way with 25 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four steals, but shot just 8-24 from the field. Already without point guard Ricky Rubio, Mitchell was thrust into a larger ball-handling and distributing role.

Backup point guard Dante Exum came into the game in the first quarter and made an immediate impact with nine points in the first eight minutes of action. Unfortunately, he drew his third foul and didn't return until the second half. In the third quarter, Exum suffered a leg injury and did not return. It was later announced to be a hamstring injury.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Exum was diagnosed with a hamstring strain and is considered day-to-day moving forward.

Exum underwent shoulder surgery in October of 2017 and ended up playing just 14 regular season games. Coach Quin Snyder has entrusted him as the backup guard behind Rubio in the playoffs, and he's been largely effective. He was instrumental in the defense of James Harden when the Jazz stole Game 2 in Houston.

Hamstring strains are tricky and should not be played on unless the player is 100 percent ready to return. His teammate, Ricky Rubio, has been out since Game 6 of the first round series against the Jazz with a hamstring strain. While Exum's status for Game 5 is still uncertain, Rubio is questionable to play and will likely be headed for a game-time decision.
