Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell was recently spotted with Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler during a birthday party.

Renowned basketball trainer Chris Brickley hosted a birthday party, which saw the likes of Butler, Mitchell, and Los Angeles Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony come together to celebrate.

Mitchell has been the subject of numerous trade rumors since the Dallas Mavericks eliminated the Jazz in six games in the first round of the 2022 NBA playoffs.

Tensions are running high in Utah as longtime head coach Quin Snyder stepped down after failing to reach the conference finals in his eight seasons with the team.

There has also reportedly been a sense of frustration between Mitchell and teammate Rudy Gobert.

The Heat, on the other hand, are fresh off their second Eastern Conference Finals appearance in three years and look to be big-time players acquiring new talent this offseason.

Butler has a close relationship with Mitchell. It is also worth mentioning that former Heat player, Dwyane Wade, is part owner of the Jazz and has also forged a close friendship with both Butler and Mitchell, with Wade being a key influence in Butler’s desire to join the Heat in the summer of 2019.

While the Jazz have no incentive to trade Mitchell, as he will not be a free agent until after the 2024-25 season at the earliest, if he demands a trade now he could force his way to Miami where Heat president Pat Riley has proven to be a master negotiator in getting top talent to Miami.
