The Utah Jazz continued their franchise shakeup by sending Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a haul of draft picks and more. This naturally resulted in plenty of Donovan Mitchell speculation. Would Mitchell be the next to go? Would Mitchell ask out even if the Jazz wanted to keep him?

The initial reporting after the Gobert trade suggested Utah would keep Mitchell, but then there was some pushback on that, suggesting Danny Ainge would be open to a deal if the right one came along. Now, ESPN's Brian Windhorst of Jazz meme fame is saying Utah intends to keep the star shooting guard and that he won't ask out:

Many have wondered about Donovan Mitchell's plans and potential desire to go to a more glamour market like New York or Miami. For right now at least, it seems he's willing to play things out with the Jazz and see how they look to retool around him. Utah got a ton of assets back in that Gobert trade, which could be used to rebuild the team with a different look. The beef involving Mitchell and Gobert is well-documented at this point, and perhaps the All-Star guard will be happier with a different supporting cast around him moving forward.

Still, things can always change in an instant in the NBA, and the Kevin Durant situation hangs over everything. Perhaps Ainge winds up deciding he'd rather just blow it all up. Maybe Mitchell looks at the Jazz team and decides he doesn't like where things are heading and winds up making a trade request. The Durant trade, if it happens anytime soon, could help provide more clarity on the situation.

But for now, we wait, though if Windy is saying there will be no Donovan Mitchell trade perhaps we should just believe that.
