After being ousted by the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday in Game 7 of their first-round playoffs matchup, the Utah Jazz are now in store for what should be a very interesting offseason. One of the biggest concerns has to be the relationship between stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, which at this point appears to be doing much better than what most would have expected.

According to Chris Mannix of SI, Mitchell and Gobert seems to have put their rift behind them at this point:

An obvious positive: The relationship between Mitchell and Rudy Gobert has been rebuilt. Team sources have described the vibe between the two stars as “great” these last two months. Both seemed to have moved past the drama that unfolded last March, when Mitchell and Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, with Gobert admitting to recklessness when it came to the coronavirus. The two have never been best friends, but by all accounts, Utah’s two cornerstones are in a good place.

That's certainly great to hear for Jazz fans, who have understandably been concerned with how their team will move forward amidst a brewing conflict between their two stars. If Mitchell and Gobert have indeed made amends, then Utah should be able to continue to build around this dynamic duo for years to come.

Then again, this does not mean that trading Gobert is completely out of the picture. It has already been reported that the Jazz expect to offer Mitchell a max extension in the offseason, so if they were looking to shakeup the roster, then Gobert could prove to be a valuable asset in any potential trade deal.

Gobert is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, and he will have no shortage of suitors should he become available. For the Jazz, this could present them with an opportunity to potentially pair Mitchell with another superstar, and in the process increase Utah's chances to mount a real challenge for the title next year.
