Many NBA players have explored various activities to fill their day ever since the season suspension, one of which involves streaming themselves playing video games. Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell, in particular, played NBA 2K while on Twitch.tv, where he wore a throwback Carlos Boozer jersey.

During the livestream, Mitchell sported the retired forward’s number five Jazz jersey. Boozer was previously drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2002 draft. The big man eventually earned two All-Star selections throughout his career, both of which was during his six years in Utah. He played in the NBA for 13 seasons before officially retiring in the league.

This was not the first time Mitchell paid tribute to a former Jazz legend. He had also donned a Karl Malone jersey — not virtually, but during the 2018 Summer League in Las Vegas.

The 23-year-old shooting guard was cleared of the coronavirus several days ago along with Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert. They were the first two NBA players who tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the league to temporarily postpone games. He had been averaging 24.2 points prior to the suspension.

Most recently, the NBA recently announced that Mitchell will be one of 16 participants in a players-only NBA 2K tournament. ESPN and ESPN2 will air the games starting Friday. Subsequently, the champion’s chosen charity will then receive a $100,000 donation.

As determined by 2K player rating and tenure, Mitchell is the No. 4 seed and will face Washington Wizards rookie Rui Hachimura, the No. 13 seed, in the first round. For now, streaming from his home is certainly good practice.
