The Philadelphia 76ers announced point guard Jerryd Bayless will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist.

His wrist will be immobilized for 12 weeks after Dr. Michelle Carlson of the Hospital for Special Surgery tended to his surgery in New York City.

“While it’s unfortunate Jerryd will miss the remainder of the season, we feel confident that today’s procedure will resolve his wrist injury and related discomfort,” Sixers President of Basketball Operations Bryan Colangelo said in a statement.

Bayless was bound to be the starting point guard of the team after missing the first 13 games of the season with the same injury, which he chose to rehabilitate without surgery.

The Arizona standout played in only three games, averaging 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists, combining for a mere 71 minutes in his much-shortened season.

He signed a three-year, $27 million contract with the Sixers in the offseason after averaging 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 28.9 minutes for the Milwaukee Bucks as a scoring guard off the bench.

Without his services, Sergio “Chacho” Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell will split the minutes at the point guard position for the remainder of the season.
