New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley won't practice on Wednesday and his status is up in the air for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.

For a team that will already be without their first and second-string quarterbacks, not having Mosley against a very good Patriots offense would be a huge loss. Mosley suffered the groin injury during their week one loss against the Buffalo Bills and hasn't been able to practice since.

Groin injuries can sometimes be very tricky to come back from, and if rushed back it can cause some major issues. Coach Adam Gase made it clear that the team is going to bring him back slowly and make sure he is 100 percent ready when he returns to the field.

The Jets have a bye week after their game with the Patriots so it would make sense fo the team held him Sunday to give him that extra time.

Mosley was the Jets big-time acquisition this offseason and was having a big game in the opener before going down with the groin injury. He had already racked up an interception that he returned for a touchdown, along with five tackles and two passes knocked down.

Rookie defensive lineman Quinnen Williams is dealing with an ankle injury and also won't be practicing on Wednesday but Gase does think there is a chance he could return to the field on Thursday which leaves the door open that he could play on Sunday.

The offense is getting all the attention because of the injuries at quarterback, but the defense has some big-time injuries too.
