Todd Bowles and the New York Jets will get to face the New England Patriots sans wide receiver Josh Gordon after he left the team prior to his indefinite suspension.

Bowles has had a chance to see what the Patriots offense looks like without Gordon in last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, and he didn’t see much of a difference.

“They look the same,” Bowles said of the Patriots without Gordon per Tyler Sullivan of 247Sports. “They just plug and play. I mean, [Chris] Hogan’s a good receiver, [Phillip] Dorsett’s a good receiver, obviously [Julian] Edelman. They’re not losing too much with those guys having played in games before. They run the ball well and they’re throwing it well so they look just as efficient as they have been.”

The Patriots opted for a more run-heavy attack against the Bills. They gashed Buffalo’s run defense for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Tom Brady completed just 13 of 24 passes for 126 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Patriots offense was humming along in their first meeting with the Jets. Brady had 283 yards and a couple of touchdowns while the ground game got 215 yards as the Pats got a comfortable 27-13 win. Gordon got in on the act with 70 yards on five catches.

Gordon’s absence will be a blow to the Patriots’ passing attack. But if the Patriots can continue to run the ball effectively once again, Bowles and the Jets will have problems containing that New England offense, even without Gordon.
