Reigning UFC welterweight Kamaru Usman was told of the only way he could surpass all-time great Georges St-Pierre.

After successfully defending his UFC welterweight belt for five consecutive times, Kamaru Usman is now being placed on same footing as former welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. Fans often debate about who should be hailed as the division's “GOAT” between the pair but former UFC star Kevin Lee doesn't like discussing the subject.

For Lee, who is now the latest signing of Eagle FC, Usman's name shouldn't dropped when talking about greatest of all time as St-Pierre certainly holds that title. However, “The Nigerian Nightmare” can possibly dethrone GSP if he moves up and beat the likes of Jon Jones or Israel Adesanya.

“I don’t like the people who do that though. It’s GSP [Georges St-Pierre] all the way,” Lee stressed via The Schmo. “Let’s get that out there. GSP, hands down, I don’t even think it’s possible for him [Kamaru Usman] to be it, unless he goes up to 205 [lbs] and fight Jon Jones.”

“If he beats Jon Jones then I’m saying okay… If you go 205, you fight Jon Jones, you fight Jan Blachowicz, you fight Israel Adesanya or something, Alright, now we can talk. But before that I hate that,” he continued.

St-Pierre, however, had previously admitted that Usman is already “on his way” to becoming the greatest to ever do it.

“Well he’s on his way,” the French-Canadian said of Usman's case of being GOAT last month. “Rome was not built in a week. It took years. So, same thing with Kamaru Usman. He’s on his way.”

“He’s doing fantastic and I’m a big fan of him,” he added. “I truly believe, right now, he’s probably the best fighter right now, and probably the best active fighter in the UFC. He’s doing very well. Only the future will tell us.”
