Former UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov recently voiced that he has no interest in returning to the Octagon after retiring in March. It appears there was a reason behind his decision. He wanted to play professional football in Russia.

Khabib has just signed with third-tier club FC Legion Dynamo, who are just one level above amateur in his home country. Here's a look at Khabib officially inking a deal with the team:

Khabib has always been an avid football fan and clearly, this was a dream of his. It's unknown what position he'll play for Dynamo, which was founded in 2015. Back in January, he did tweet this, which hints at the possibility of Khabib changing sports:

It looks like that dream will come true. Khabib will go down as arguably the best UFC fighter ever, going a perfect 29-0-0 in his career. His last fight was in October of 2020, where he beat Justin Gaethje via submission.

Khabib isn't the first athlete to try his luck in professional football, either. Usain Bolt played for the Central Coast Mariners in Australia's top flight for a couple of months, while Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson did a brief trial with Sporting Kansas City way back in 2011 during the NFL lockout.

FC Legion Dynamo currently sits in third place and has made the group stages of the Russian Cup. Best of luck to Khabib in his footballing career.
