The Sacramento Kings are set to host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. Although the Celtics will be without point guard Kyrie Irving, head coach Dave Joerger is not sleeping on backup point guard Terry Rozier.

Boston has announced that Irving will out of tonight's matchup versus Sacramento due to a left thigh contusion.

According to Brian Robb of the Boston Sports Journal, the Kings coach still knows full well what Rozier is capable of:

Dave Joerger on Celtics without Kyrie: Last time they played us without him, Rozier put 34 on us.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Joerger's comments. Rozier has proven more than capable of taking on ballhandling duties in Irving's stead. He is currently averaging 13.3 points and 6.8 assists on 43.9 percent shooting per 36 minutes in the games he has started this season. Joerger's praise indicates that he will be a big part of the game plan.

The prospect of having to play without Irving is nothing new for the Celtics. He has missed his fair share of time this season due to injury.

Despite his status as one of the NBA's elite players, Boston has managed to find a way to win without him after going 9-2 in his absence this year albeit nine of those games were against teams below .500.

Regardless, the Celtics are one of the few teams that seem to play better without its star player. Furthermore, it is clear that Rozier has left quite an impression on Joerger from their last meeting.

Boston will need him to step up big once again if they hope to capitalize on their dominant win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
