A Sacramento Kings legend is the team’s new assistant general manager. That’s former Kings sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic, who has been promoted to said position according to a statement released by the team’s website on Wednesday.

The Sacramento Kings today announced that Peja Stojakovic will serve as Assistant General Manager, according to General Manager Vlade Divac.

Part of Peja Stojakovic’s role moving forward is to team up with former on-court buddy Vlade Divac in running the operation of the team from behind the scenes.

In his role, Stojakovic will support Divac in front office responsibilities, including management of player development, talent evaluation and oversight of the team’s NBA G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

Stojakovic’s partnership with the Kings began in 1996, when Sacramento took him as the 14th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. He would make his NBA debut in 1998 and from then, he would become part of some of the most successful and entertaining Sacramento teams in franchise history.

In eight seasons with the Kings, Stojakovic averaged 18.3 points with a 46.1 field goal percentage and 39.8 3-point shooting percentage in 518 total games (408 starts).

Stojakovic is the Kings’ all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 1,070 and in free throw percentage with an 89.3 clip.
