The Sacramento Kings are in the gutter of the Western Conference and nowhere close to making the playoffs. As their disappointing season continues, they will also be without a key rotational piece for the remainder of the campaign.

The team announced on Friday that big man Richaun Holmes is done for the year due to personal reasons:

Not ideal, but let's just hope the Kings forward is okay. He was a regular in the first unit until Sacramento acquired Domantas Sabonis in early February. Holmes has now been coming off the bench. The 28-year-old is averaging 10.4 points and seven rebounds per night, playing in 45 of the Kings' 71 games in 2021-22.

Holmes was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round in 2015 out of Bowling Green and spent his first three NBA seasons in the City of Brotherly Love before they traded him to the Phoenix Suns in 2018. Holmes lasted just one season there before coming over to the Kings.

2020/21 was his best campaign yet, averaging a career-best 14.2 points and 8.3 boards for Sacramento. He's a physical presence down low and profiles to be an important player for years to come as they try to turn things around.

All the best to Richaun Holmes and his family.
