The Sacramento Kings' attempted remedy of their playoff woes is Domantas Sabonis. The front office had long hoped to land a star and get the team into the playoffs. Sabonis was the culmination of their efforts, as they traded budding star Tyrese Haliburton to pry him away from the Indiana Pacers.

So far, Sabonis has been just as productive in Sacramento as he was in Indiana but it hasn't mattered much. The Kings have struggled and Sabonis' most notable moment with the team was his ejection and suspension after making contact with a referee.

The struggles haven't scared Sabonis, though. He told The Athletic's Sam Amick that he wants to be in Sacramento to snap their 15-year playoff drought.

I’m excited about the whole journey. It sucks that we have that (playoff) drought, but the fact that we can be part of something that can turn it around, you know, that’s the goal. Come in and change the perspective of this organization and what people think. We’re excited that we can be part of that and build it, you know? So I want to stay as long as I can. Everything has to go well, (but) I’m happy here. It’s awesome. The fans are great.

The Kings have only been about as good as the Pacers have been since the trade, posting an identical record to Indy since the All-Star break. They are in 13th place in the Western Conference with a 24-44 record. Despite clinching their 16th straight losing season, Sabonis is committed to breaking that streak.
