The Sacramento Kings have signed second-round draft pick and former NCAA national champion guard Kyle Guy to a two-way contract.

The Kings acquired Guy's rights in a draft night trade with the New York Knicks, selecting the 6-foot-2 University of Virginia product with the 55th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Sacramento sent New York the 47th pick in the draft in exchange for cash considerations.

Guy, turning 22 years old next month, spent three years at Virginia. He had a distinguished collegiate career and ended it on a high note — helping UVA win the NCAA championship over Texas Tech in April. Guy was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Guy averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in his three-year stint in Charlottesville, shooting 43.3% from the floor, 42.5% from 3-point range, and 80.6% from the free throw line in 106 appearances.

The two-way contract means Guy cannot be with the Kings for more than 45 days during the NBA season. Guy will likely find plenty of minutes in the G League with Sacramento's affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

Guy is currently competing on Sactown's Las Vegas Summer League team. He scored 21 points in his Vegas debut for the Kings:

The Kings also spent this offseason re-signing Harrison Barnes and bringing in Dewayne Dedmon, Cory Joseph, and Trevor Ariza, among others, in the franchise's attempt to thwart its 13-year stretch of missing the NBA's postseason.
