Now that this season has come to an end for the Sacramento Kings, team executive Vlade Divac is ready to take a closer look at ways to improve. One angle he might choose to take, according to a report from ESPN, would be to dismiss head coach Dave Joerger.

This season didn't go as planned for the Kings, to be sure. Their 39-43 overall record left them with the 3rd-best mark in the Pacific Division. Sacramento was fighting for a spot in the postseason for a while, but they ultimately finished 9th in the West, nine game behind the 8th-seeded Clippers. It was the 13th straight season in which the Kings have missed the playoffs. However, it was also the most wins Joerger has tallied in his three years with the franchise.

Prior to the start of this campaign, many experts were already writing the Kings off. In fact, some said the team would finish last in the Western Conference due to unwise choices in drafting. Analysts often criticized Divac for selecting Marvin Bagley III instead of Luka Doncic, who is proving to be one of the best young players in the NBA.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Divac and Joerger are scheduled to meet at some point on Thursday to discuss the team's future. Just keep in mind that Joerger still has one year remaining on his deal with Sacramento.

Whether or not Divac will indeed relieve Joerger of his duties as head coach remains to be seen. The Kings have reportedly opened contract extension negotiations with Divac, and it's possible he could be granted more power as part of the deal.
