Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson said goodbye to his mid-season slump after dropping seven treys against the New York Knicks on Tuesday en route to a 43-point night. What was most impressive is that he only took four dribbles to unleash such performance, a feat that had Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James in sheer awe.

If you won't say it, I will.

T-t-t-t-t-tampering?

Thompson will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and while he's already declared his desire to remain with the Warriors, LeBron often operates with the motto of “you miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.”

James' field goal percentage in recruiting free agents has been pretty close to 50 percent, but this one will surely count as a heat-check after nearly avoiding a tampering fine by expressing his desire to play with Anthony Davis, who is currently under contract with the New Orleans Pelicans and like Thompson, soon to become a free agent at season's end.

This post on his Instagram story is a much more subtle way to recruit, but likely a futile attempt at it, with Thompson determined to extend his stay in The Bay.

The Warriors' sharpshooter has shot a blistering 51.3 percent from deep in his last five games, slowly recovering from a ghastly 3-point shooting season by his standards, now hitting at a 35.6 percent clip after canning 40 percent or more of his long-range attempts in each of his first seven seasons in the league.
