The New York Knicks are not a good basketball team while the once heralded Eastern Conference franchise will finish the 2018-19 regular season with the worst record in the NBA. However, Knicks head coach David Fizdale is already expecting much bigger things from his team come next season while the former Memphis Grizzlies head coach specifically has his eye on rookie forward Kevin Knox, who will head into his second professional season in 2019-20.

“Next year we expect him to be a guy who helps us win games, putting us in a position to be a team that’s going to be competing for the playoffs and hopefully further,’’ Fizdale recently said at United Center following the season’s last morning shootaround, via The New York Post.

Although Knox showed signs of potential greatness at times in 2018-19, the former Kentucky Wildcats standout and eventual first round NBA Draft pick was simply not consistent enough as a rookie.

“I see a kid growing,’’ Fizdale added in regards to Knox. “He had ups and downs. I’m very happy the way he’s approaching the finale of the season. Things are starting to slow down for him — shot selection, understanding where his spots are. He’s starting to see the floor better. He’s not forcing shots. He’s having games now with multiple assists. Real positive signs.’’

The Knicks only have a few games remaining on the schedule while the lowly Eastern Conference franchise will be taking on the equally disappointing Chicago Bulls on Tuesday evening in the “Windy City.”
