In addition to acquiring veteran center DeAndre Jordan late last week in the Kristaps Porzingis trade, the New York Knicks also added former Mavericks guards Dennis Smith Jr. and Wesley Matthews.

With the trio of Smith Jr., Matthews and Jordan heading to New York, the Knicks sent swingman Tim Hardaway Jr., shooting guard Courtney Lee and point guard Trey Burke to Dallas along with Porzingis. While making your way to New York always comes along with a ton of pressure, it appears as though this particular instance got even stranger for the tandem of Smith and Matthews — even before they made their way to the Big Apple.

All three of the Knicks' newcomers made their respective debuts for the struggling Eastern Conference franchise on Sunday afternoon at the world-famous Madison Square Garden. With the Memphis Grizzlies coming to town ahead of Super Bowl LIII's matchup between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams, the matinee went exactly as everyone in New York would have hoped with Knicks fans presumably smiling from ear-to-ear thanks to yet another loss.

For all the sports fans out there, NFL and NBA fans alike, hopefully Sunday evening's Super Bowl LIII matchup is a little more exciting than the 96-84 contest at Madison Square Garden. Perhaps Smith Jr. and Matthews should have just stayed asleep — they wouldn't have missed a thing.
