The New York Knicks suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday evening when Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker pulled up and hit a triple to put his team up three points with just a second remaining on the clock. On Monday afternoon following this loss, the Knicks decided to make a slight roster adjustment.

Ahead of Sunday's game, the Knicks announced that Duane Washington Jr., who was signed to a two-way contract, suffered a right thumb injury and would be re-evaluated in six-to-eight weeks. Not even 24 hours later, the team announced that they had waived Washington and signed Jaylen Martin to a two-way contract.

Martin had originally signed a two-way deal with the Knicks after going undrafted out of Overtime Elite this past summer, but New York waived him to create an available two-way roster spot. Since, Martin has been spending time in the NBA G League with the Westchester Knicks. In six total games with Westchester this season, Martin has averaged 10.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 45.6 percent from three-point range.

It is expected that Martin will continue to spend time developing in the G League with the Westchester Knicks.

As for Washington, his time with the Knicks has come to an end. While he has not appeared in a game this season, Washington has also spent time with Westchester, averaging 27.3 points and 6.3 assists per game in three contests. It is unknown if the Knicks will explore opportunities to re-sign Washington once he recovers from his current thumb injury.
