The New York Knicks underwent much change within the organization this past summer that has brought a fresh new start to the team.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, general manager Scott Perry believes that the Knicks will work toward establishing a sense of direction this upcoming season.

“The big thing is this team competing, playing hard, playing together, trying to defend every night. If we can do that, they can live with the results. The fans will at least see the proper direction we’re headed. That’s going to be key — establishing direction where we’re headed as an organization.’’

With the departure of All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony, New York has now constructed a roster centered around third-year forward Kristaps Porzingis, who has become one of the league's rising stars. There is also the free range for head coach Jeff Hornacek in his own manner without Phil Jackson hovering over attempting to implement the triangle offense.

There is now an opportunity for the Knicks to build something new with their newly constructed roster in the weakened Eastern Conference with several All-Stars in Jimmy Butler, Paul Millsap, and Paul George heading West.

The Knicks are hedging toward a new era that will begin with nothing short of an interesting 2017-18 campaign.
