New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek seems to like this backcourt combination of Frank Ntilikina and Trey Burke.

After a win 111-95 win Tuesday night over the Brooklyn Nets, Jeff Hornacek gave high praise to his young guards, suggesting that they were a big reason the Knicks came away with the win, per Ian Begley of ESPN.

“When the two of them were in there, Trey kind of handled it and did his thing. And Frank did a nice job of playing off the ball. When we see that, it gives us an opportunity to use Ntilikina at the two spot.”

Frank Ntilikina and Trey Burke only combined for 10 points on the night, but they clearly made an impact on the game. Ntilikina came away with a plus-10 on the game, and the team played even basketball when Burke was on the floor.

The two players come off the bench, but Ntilikina got 27 minutes against the Nets. Burke played 17. So while the production wasn't otherworldly, the fact that the tandem got minutes on the floor will help their development.

Ntilikina and Burke are two players that need to be good in order the Knicks to survive the rebuilding they are currently on. The team has Kristaps Porzingis to build around, but that is not enough unless the cast of characters in New York develops at least two more leading men.

So far, the two are on the right track. And if they continue receiving praise from their coach, they will get more opportunities to improve themselves and the team.
