Mike Miller, who took over for David Fizdale on an interim basis midway through the 2019-20 season, won't be retained by New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, there were initial speculations that Miller could stay with the Knicks if he didn't get the head-coaching gig. However, the two sides are moving on.

Mike Miller went 17-27 with the Knicks in 44 games. The players always spoke highly of him and he did a commendable job in 2019-20.

Tom Thibodeau called the Knicks his dream job after signing his contract. The former Coach of the Year faces an uphill challenge to turn New York around, as the franchise hasn't had a winning record or made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season.

Thibs has been to the playoffs with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. He's a defensive wizard and has a track record of being good at player development even though he tends to play his main players a lot of minutes.

With the Bulls and Timberwolves, Thibodeau went 352-246 in the regular season. He won the 2011 Coach of the Year Award with the Bulls after guiding the team to the best record in the NBA and helping Derrick Rose win the MVP Award.

Since the Knicks had one of the worst records in the league this season, they will once again have a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. New York missed out on Zion Williamson last season, so fans are hoping the basketball Gods will be on their side this time around.
