The New York Knicks have started to find a bit of a rhythm after a slow start to the campaign, winning three straight games. However, amid their hot streak, they've been dealt an unfortunate blow as franchise star Julius Randle has landed in COVID-19 protocols.

Via Shams Charania:

While Randle is struggling to replicate his success from last season when he won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award, the All-Star is still an important piece of the puzzle for the Knicks. Tom Thibodeau's squad has actually steered relatively clear of COVID problems, with Nerlens Noel the only other player currently sidelined due to the virus.

However, they were dealt some bad news as Derrick Rose underwent surgery a couple of weeks ago and will miss around eight weeks. As for Randle's situation, he can exit quarantine within six days due to the CDC's new rules. He is clearly vaccinated due to the mandates in NYC.

That being said, he would likely only miss the next three games for the Knicks against the Thunder, Raptors, and Pacers. Obi Toppin will see increased minutes with Randle on the shelf. New York is in OKC on Friday night after beating the Pistons on Wednesday.
