It didn't take long for New York Knicks rookie Obi Toppin to make an impact on the NBA stage.

In the Knicks' preseason debut, Toppin has been THE guy against the Detroit Pistons, putting up nine points and five rebounds in only five minutes in the first half. He's second in scoring and rebounding, behind Nerlens Noel and Julius Randle respectively.

The Knicks didn't necessarily need a power forward on draft day, but Toppin fell in their lap at pick eight and was just too good to pass up. It's showing early on.

Toppin can finish above the rim, dunking whenever and however he can–proving that he's not just a one-dimensional athlete.

Obi Toppin is also a skilled scorer in the post. He has excellent footwork and patience down low to go along with a very soft touch.

To put a cherry on top, the new Knicks forward can even run the break as a primary ball handler and distribute. Not many bigs in the NBA can do that, let alone a rookie.

It's preseason so there is only so much that you fans draw from this game. But with that being said, it's better to see so many bright spots than nothing at all.

Toppin will give the Knicks a burst of athleticism and bring versatility to their front court. He will be an integral part of New York's rebuild and should be a main component of the offense as a rookie.

Fans will definitely be seeing a lot more Obi Toppin highlights in 2021.
