New Orleans Pelicans superstar Zion Williamson was caught off guard when he talked about the city of New York after the Pelicans lost to the Knicks.

Zion Williamson elicited several eye emojis after he said that New York is his second favorite city to play in.

“I mean, New York is the mecca of basketball. I love playing here. I played here in college and this was the first time I played here in the pros. This atmosphere, whether they’re cheering or booing you, is amazing,” said Zion Williamson.

Of course, this got a ton of reactions from NBA Twitter. Whenever a player says they want to play somewhere, there’s a good chance it happens in the NBA. There a ton of ways players get to play in a city they want—through free agency and trades. But don’t worry Pelicans fans, Zion Williamson won’t be going anywhere, at least for now. The first pick in the NBA 2020 Draft is still signed under his rookie contract.

For Knicks fans, it’s hard not to think about how explosive a Julius Randle and Zion Williamson tandem would be. That’s for sure must see TV especially since it’s the Knicks. Knicks fans have been clamoring for a superstar to play for their team for a while now but at least they have Randle to look forward to. The All-Star is most certainly a candidate for Most Improved Player this year as he is currently averaging 23.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

As for Zion Williamson, it’s been a stellar season for him as well with the Pelicans in New Orleans, one of America's great cities in its own right on any day of the week. The sophomore is averaging 26.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game and is also a player many look forward to watching every single night.
