Despite his late-season injury and not showing the consistency of his former MVP-self, Derrick Rose is still very much an option for the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

The organization has reached out to the point guard, who could come back to wear the blue-and-orange if the Knicks fail to acquire their top target at the position — George Hill.

According to Goodman, the Knicks have very limited options in free agency now that Ricky Rubio, Jrue Holiday, and Jeff Teague have locked down a home within the last 24 hours.

New York has also a very delicate situation as the franchise doesn't have much money to shell out in free agency, despite their many needs, still hindered by the large contracts of Carmelo Anthony and Joakim Noah. This very well makes the re-signing of Rose a “serious option”, per ESPN's Ian Begley.

Rose's season was far from underwhelming, putting up stats similar to his last season in Chicago and showing a relatively clean bill of health until his season-ending injury.

The Chicago native averaged 18 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in his lone season in the Big Apple.

The Knicks have also shown interest in unrestricted free agent point guard Michael Carter-Williams after the Bulls didn't extend a qualifying offer to him prior to the free agency window.
