LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will get two more teammates back from health and safety protocols: Austin Reaves and Kent Bazemore, who were both cleared on Wednesday to re-join their team.

However, Reaves and Bazemore were ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to “return to competition reconditioning.”

Hopefully, both players will be able to play on Friday, when the Lakers host the Portland Trail Blazers at Crypto.com Arena. On Tuesday, Lakers interim head coach David Fizdale said both players were “close” to returning.

Reaves entered protocols 12 days ago, on Dec. 17. In the last game he played, two days prior, he hit the game-winning three and scored 15 points in the Lakers' win over the Dallas Mavericks. The undrafted rookie has become a staple in the Lakers' rotation, crunch-time lineup, and a key glue guy.

Bazemore started the first 13 games of the season but never found his game and fell out of the rotation. He entered protocols on Dec. 19, the same day as head coach Frank Vogel. Vogel is yet to re-join the team, who have gone 1-4 in his absence.

As it stands, Trevor Ariza and Rajon Rondo remain the only Lakers players in health and safety protocols. At one point, the Lakers had seven players in protocols at the same time.

In other news, Wayne Ellington (non-COVID illness) will be available for the Lakers contest in Memphis. He was not with the team for Tuesday's win over the Houston Rockets.
