The Los Angeles Lakers had been going after a trade for Anthony Davis with the New Orleans Pelicans since the trade deadline back in February, and when it finally happened in June, fans got extremely excited. But no person is probably happier than purple-and-gold superstar LeBron James.

AD was recently a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he revealed that LeBron was one of the first people who texted him when the trade went down. Davis said that LeBron was super excited once he heard the news.

Well, who wouldn't be?

The arrival of Davis means that the Lakers are now a legitimate championship contender. They could end their six-year playoff drought next season, and even though a lot of fans and media experts are not buying Los Angeles' hype, AD is pretty confident that the team can win a seven-game series against the league's best.

The Lakers sacrificed a lot to get Davis. They traded almost their entire young core and also gave up a ton of draft picks to the Pelicans, which means that if for some reason the AD experiment doesn't work, they won't have any foundation to build their future on.

But barring any injuries and any on-court issues, the Lakers are a formidable team. They have two of the top-five players in the league right now, and they have a decent supporting cast. If everything falls into place, the Lakers could win their first title in nearly a decade.

Who wouldn't be excited for that kind of prospect?
