The Los Angeles Lakers are working on a deal good enough to convince the New Orleans Pelicans to trade them Anthony Davis before the trade deadline. The have reportedly offered a package of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, and a first round pick with the hopes of getting a deal done before the trade deadline.

However, reports have circulated that the Pelicans are not entertaining any trade offer from the Lakers, and are willing to wait until the offseason before dealing Davis.

The Boston Celtics have also made a call to the Pelicans front office, and rumors say that they will be ‘willing to give anything' if the New Orleans can hold off on trading Davis until July.

If that happens, the Lakers will likely lose a bidding war with the Celtics, who has currently possess a lot of assets, including young players and draft picks.

And reports indicate that Los Angeles isn't going that route.

If the Lakers won't land Davis via trade, then they will turn their attention into this year's free agency, when guys like Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson are expected to hit the market.

Either way, the Lakers will continue to look for that second star that they can pair with their cornerstone, LeBron James.
