The Los Angeles Lakers are solidifying their roster for the South Bay Lakers — the team's G-League affiliate — by signing Scott Machado according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints.

With the Lakers roster at 18, they need to trim it to 17 (15 standard contracts, two two-way contracts) by Oct. 15. This is why this signing is most likely an Exhibit 10 deal which would give Machado a bonus if he spends 60 days with the South Bay Lakers after being cut by the Los Angeles Lakers.

It makes sense for the Lakers given their current roster situation and it makes sense for their G-League affiliate to bring back a player that had success with the team last season.

Machado has spent three seasons in the G League with stops in various places. His only experience at the NBA level came with the Houston Rockets in 2012-13 when he appeared in six regular season games for the team. Oddly enough, Machado would later sign a 10-day contract with the Golden State Warriors and remain with the team through the playoffs. He even appeared in five playoff games for the Warriors, despite playing extremely limited minutes.

This move makes sense for Machado as well. He has already found success with the South Bay Lakers and although he's low on the depth chart, injuries could force the Lakers to give him a chance at some point during the season. He's hung around the NBA for a long time, but has yet to get a chance at consistent minutes. Perhaps this year will be different.
