Two games into the new season and it appears that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is far from mid-season form. During L.A.'s Christmas Day matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, the four-time league MVP shot a rather embarrassing airball in the third period of the nationally televised contest.

Here's a look at the incident in question, which unsurprisingly, prompted a nonchalant reaction from LeBron:

That's not something you see everyday from James. Safe to assume that there's still some rust that needs to be shaken off for the four-time NBA champ.

The Lakers are coming off an opening night defeat against their cross-town rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. The Clippers emerged with a 116-109 win, starting off opening night the same way they did last season.

For his part, LeBron had a so-so game, finishing with 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, five assists, and four turnovers in 28 minutes of play. It was far from an exhilarating performance from one of the top players in the game today, which is also one of the reasons behind the Lakers' opening night defeat.

James and Co. came into Friday's contest against the Mavs looking to bounce back with a much needed win. After all, logging back-to-back losses is not exactly the best way to start the Lakers' defense of their title this season.

Chalk up LeBron's airball as a one-off. The King is primed for yet another tremendous campaign, as he looks to defy the odds yet again.
