LeBron James' latest ascent up the all-time rankings is in the category of points on Christmas Day. As the Los Angeles Lakers host the Brooklyn Nets, James passed Kobe Bryant for the most points all-time on Christmas.

James has played in 16 Christmas games in his 19-year career, the same amount as Bryant. He has played in the last 15 of them and has his name all over the NBA's Christmas Day record books. James' teams have a 10-5 record on Christmas, including 2-1 with the Lakers.

The insane amount of Christmas basketball James has played shows his status as the NBA's biggest star. Even as other players surpass him as better players, he will always be the center of attention. James has lived up to the billing, providing great moments on Christmas, including a leading role in arguably the best Christmas Day game in league history.

The Lakers don't have much to celebrate outside of James' record. Their season hasn't been very good to this point and their road ahead will only get tougher. At 16-17 heading into their Christmas matchup with the Nets, they'll need to make serious roster upgrades in order to compete for a championship.

James is having a typically dominant season at age 36, averaging 26.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.5 assists in 21 games. The rest of the Lakers roster hasn't amounted to much, hence the disappointing season Los Angeles finds itself in. Their offense is one of the least efficient in the league.

As long as James remains in the NBA, he will always be playing basketball on Christmas, adding to his all-time point total even more.
