On his 36th birthday, LeBron James becomes the first player in NBA history to score at least 10 points in 1,000 consecutive regular-season games.

Scroll down to see the historic basket, which extended James' 10-plus points streak to 1,000 games. What's interesting is that James unleashed a hook shot—a type of shot that we rarely see from him. Perhaps James wanted the basket to be a little bit special? Who knows?

James has held the longest 10-plus points streak for quite some time now. As seen, Michael Jordan is in second place with 866 games while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in third with 787.

James' streak actually started on Jan. 6, 2007, which was just his fourth year in the league. Consistency is what separates the great players from the good ones. And we can safely say that James has been the most consistent player on the planet today.

The funny thing is that scoring isn't James' main strength. Since entering the league 18 years ago, analysts have been in awe of his passing abilities and vision, which is akin to Lakers icon Magic Johnson.

LeBron James has never been tagged as an explosive scorer like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. But yet here we are. Apart from his double-digit scoring streak, James is in third place on the all-time scoring list. According to analysts' calculations, James needs to average at least 25 points over the next few seasons to be able to overtake Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the number one spot. This is definitely a feasible endeavor. And it'll only add to the already-hefty resume of James.
