Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James recently collaborated with rapper 2 Chainz to be part of the latter's album, “Rap or go to the League.”

The four-time NBA MVP explained that it was an easy decision for him.

“Anything I do has to be organic to me, and I wouldn't be who I am today without music. My love for music, my love for hip-hop music… what it does for me in my training, what it's done for me in my life… There are days I've gotten through because of music — great artists who've been able to use their penmanship to get me through days. So this was just organic to me.”

This sparked frustrations from Laker fans, who believe LeBron seems to be more focused on off-court projects than helping the Lakers end their postseason drought.

Aside from working with 2 Chainz, James is also the host of HBO's “The Shop.” He is also the lead actor in the upcoming movie “Space Jam 2,” which will reportedly start filming this summer.

These activities don't seem to affect his game. Whenever he plays, he still gets his usual numbers. The key detail: Those numbers aren't helping the Lakers win at a steady or sufficient rate.

The Lakers are currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 30-33 record. They are five games behind the eighth-seeded San Antonio Spurs, and with 19 games left, their chances of making the playoffs are slim.

Should the Lakers miss the playoffs, would LeBron want to become a rapper and make his own album?

“No, I don't think so. I've heard the music business is very, very difficult. But who knows what my kids might want to do someday?”
