Even as it continues to gain popularity among fans and players, there are still some who do not know what NBA Top Shot is all about. Case in point: Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and Brooklyn Nets guard James Harden.

Never mind that some of their highlights plays have already sold on the online-only marketplace for thousands of dollars.

Ahead of the 2021 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, James was asked about NBA Top Shot, which is an online marketplace that allows people to buy, sell, and trade individual highlight plays. But the four-time champion claimed not to know anything about it, according to USA Today’s Mark Medina.

While James is certainly a busy man who has a lot of activities even off the court, it’s still surprising to hear that he isn’t aware of NBA Top Shot, which has gained a strong following even among current players. Just a couple of weeks ago, a James poster dunk on Sacramento Kings’ Nemanja Bjelica in November 2019 sold for $208,000, the most lucrative highlight play sold in the company’s history so far.

Harden, meanwhile, also claimed that he’s never head of NBA Top Shot, according to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News.

Like James, several of the 2018 MVP’s highlight plays are also fetching thousands of dollars in the company’s marketplace. They may not know about what is being called the “digital version” of NBA trading cards, but that will likely do little to slow down its popularity among fans and players alike. As the season progresses, James and Harden will likely provide fans with more highlight plays, which will no doubt also be highly anticipated on NBA Top Shot.
