The never-ending GOAT debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan will likely never be truly settled. But the Los Angeles Lakers star has one additional Hall of Famer in his corner.

Dallas Mavericks head coach and legendary point guard Jason Kidd was asked to weigh in on the GOAT debate on the spot during the Mavs' media session. He didn't flinch in going with LeBron James.

“I think LeBron will go down as the greatest to do it,” said Kidd of the Lakers star. “You look at his numbers, what he's done on and off the floor. No one has done that. You've got to put the whole package together. He's the greatest of all time.”

Jason Kidd is one of the rare outside observers whose NBA careers were right in between the two icons of the sport. Entering the league in 1994, Kidd was present for the primes of both Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

However, it's hard to separate the fact that Jason Kidd was also a member of the Lakers coaching staff in the two seasons prior to heading the Mavs, including the magical run in the NBA bubble back in 2020 en route to his first title as a coach.
