In the second preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers not only lost 113-107, but lost Lonzo Ball to an ankle injury. While it was diagnosed as a mild sprain, Ball did not practice the following day.

As the Lakers take on the Nuggets again in Ontario, CA, Ball will not play according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints:

While the Lakers are trying to build chemistry with a fairly new roster under head coach Luke Walton, there is no rush for Ball to return during the preseason. Through two games, the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft is averaging 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.

With the arrival of Ball, there is a new buzz surrounding the team and fans. As a pass-first point guard, there is great optimism he will be able to elevate the games of Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle, and the rest of the young core.

Although it is unclear if Ball will play the remainder of the preseason, the focus should be on getting completely healthy for the 2017-18 NBA season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 19.
