Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball is in for another challenge, taking on All-Star point guard John Wall when the undefeated Washington Wizards come to town on Wednesday.

Ball's father LaVar had warned the Wizards after the most recent Lakers loss, which center Marcin Gortat took exception to, laughing it off and noting that Wall “will torture” him for 48 minutes.

Lonzo is looking forward to facing off against the Wizards' speed demon, telling reporters that the team didn't take Gortat's response well, according to ESPN's Lawrence Murray.

“It's gonna be a lot of fun, he's one of the best point guards in this league, so I'm just gonna go out there and compete and see what happens,” said Ball, who said De'Aaron Fox was the fastest point guard he's competed against. “I know he's very fast, so I just gotta get back and build a wall.”

Wall has marked this day on his calendar since he offered that Ball's father LaVar was doing his kid a disservice by hyping him much as much as he has throughout the offseason. The Raleigh native has been chomping at the bit to prove himself as one of the elite two-way guards in the league, and he probably can't see a better way to do it than against a highly-touted rookie.

Wall's long frame at 6-foot-4 and his ability to get in passing lanes has proved to be a nightmare for opposing point guards and only a few hours stand before seeing if Ball is the one to overcome this new challenge. The Wizards floor general ranked second in the league last year with 2.01 thefts per outing.
