Anthony Davis made his much-awaited return for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday against the Dallas Mavericks. AD played just 17 minutes though, as the Lakers lost 115-110.

With the Lakers taking on the Mavs again on Saturday, LA head coach Frank Vogel revealed that he intends to increase Davis' minutes limit (h/t Tim MacMahon of ESPN):

Davis is coming off a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a calf injury. He missed a total of 30 games for the Lakers so it isn't at all surprising that the team is easing him back gradually. The last thing they want right now is a recurrence of the calf problem or worse, a new injury stemming from his lack of proper game form.

While 25 minutes is significantly below Davis' usual workload, this should still prove to be enough for the 28-year-old to make a significant impact on Saturday's tilt against Luka Doncic and the Mavs. On Thursday, AD logged just four points on 2-of-10 shooting, with four rebounds and one assist. He went 0-of-1 from distance and 0-of-2 from the line, so it goes without saying that Davis was very rusty in his first game back.

The Lakers will be hoping for a better performance from their superstar this time around. They have lost three of their last four games and they are quickly falling in the standings out West. The defending champs are currently fifth in the conference (as of Saturday afternoon) with the Mavs just two and a half games behind them at sixth.
