After the Los Angeles Lakers recently had a team meeting, head coach Luke Walton inserted Julius Randle into the team's starting lineup for the first time during the 2017-18 NBA season. Unfortunately, despite 18 points and seven rebounds from Randle, the Lakers could not snap their losing streak.

Following the 121-106 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Walton discussed his decision-making and if the team meeting will potentially change his approach.

“The guys know every decision I make might not always be right, but every decision I make is what do I believe is best for the team,” Walton said. “It's not about making guys happy. Obviously, I put a big value on relationships with the players and I spend a lot of time trying to make sure they know that me and my staff care about them not just as basketball players but as people. When it comes to basketball decisions, nothing's done to make anyone happy. It's done based on the idea and the question of what is best for our team.”

When Walton became the team's head coach prior to the 2016-17 season, the thought process was the Lakers had a young head coach who could grow with the young core. Although many have questioned his decisions especially Julius Randle's role and minutes, the 37-year-old needs time to develop as well.

After losing five consecutive games, the Lakers will embark on a two-game road trip against the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves. With the team facing Karl-Anthony Towns, it will be interesting to see if Randle continues to start for Walton.
