Los Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo has had a rough season. Or, should we say the shooting hand of Rajon Rondo has had a rough season.

Rondo has now undergone two surgical procedures on his hand this year, with the first instance coming in November and the second coming at the end of December.

The good news is that Rondo is making progress in his recovery and will now be able to travel with the team:

In 14 games this season, Rondo is averaging 8.4 points, 6.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds and a steal over 24.4 minutes per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from 3-point range and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers signed Rondo to a one-year deal over the summer, hoping he could help mentor Lonzo Ball and serve as a wily, high-basketball IQ veteran alongside of LeBron James.

Of course, five years ago, it was hard to imagine Rondo ever wearing a Lakers jersey or ever being a teammate of LeBron's.

The 32-year-old spent the first eight and a half seasons of his career with the Boston Celtics, winning a championship against the Lakers in 2008 and making two Finals appearances overall, with the latter appearance resulting in a loss to Los Angeles in 2010.

Rondo also made four straight All-Star appearances from 2010 through 2013 during his Celtics tenure.

Boston then traded Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks in 2015, where he played just that half-season. He then spent time with the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans before signing with the Lakers over this past summer.
